I have been playing with this idea in my head and I think it would be a good idea.
It would be complicated and it might sound impossible, but seeing as everyone on this site is a RvS fan I just wanted to share it with you guys.
What if you start a campaign as John Clark. You have a limited set of funds. You have no operators in your Rainbow Six team and you have to hire them from countries, Paramilitary, Delta force, french foreign legion, etc., all over the world. You have a small budget so you can only hire grunts and mercenaries. Then you can hire better forces later.
It cost money but you hire them and buy supplies, weapons. Then spend money training them. It would be like a Rainbow Six Tycoon game. At the end of every mission, depending on the outcome, you get a certain set of funds.
You have to handle money and keep your guys alive. As you progress, your guys get better and if someone gets killed, you either have reserve units or you just have to suffer until you get replacements. At the same time, units have morale. If too many units die in a mission, some units will quit because they have lost faith in your command so your judgement is on the line as well. This sounds impossilbe like I said, but I think it would make the game more amazing AND you play the missions too.
If anyone wants to challenge this idea, I think it would give a huge replayability value to the game. Or maybe it takes away from the traditional experience of Rainbow Six.
I can't think of a game that exist that is like what I explained. What do you guys think? Is it a good idea?
There are no games that I am aware of that are like this.
Though, I would argue that it detracts from the original R6 experience - just like Vegas an Lockdown did. R6 was originally designed as well-coordinated team game which took pride in it's in-depth planning sequences, the way real-world special forces operate.
Twilight's mercenary mod is similar to this idea, so that's a good place to start if you want that type of game. Still, it's an interesting idea. _________________ A storm is coming...
Believe it or not, you're already playing as John Clark. See; when you look at the manual for
Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, it states that you're a commander, directly in charge of planning
and operations, not only that but the voice of John Clark can be heard when you're playing
as him and you select things like "Climb it people" and "Zulu Go" and as a result, you heard
a different voice from the 3rd person player, who happened to be actual operative himself.
I think the voices tend to be recycled quite a bit and it is no longer obvious, as it was in previous versions of R6, which character is speaking. The exception to this being when 1 teammate is male and another female.
John Clark's voice is also used by a wide variety of other characters in-game, including Ding Chavez. That's something I didn't like about RVS when I first started - R6 and RS did it better by having a wide variety of male and female voices. I blame ubi for this _________________ A storm is coming...
I believe this was a redstorm decision, via the upper echelons regarding budget, it's usually
the case, once a company reaches maximum budget level, they're limited only by the coins!
but for a UN-based multinational CT organization, funding would be governmental, and not at all scarce in a beginning phase. Of course, politics also come in the way, as many governors would believe the idea while others wouldn't. And that recalls the first mission of the first game, when Clark says that many ppl are still skeptical about the necessity of a team like Rainbow. so, if the game went thru that 'political' plot, when funding would be more abundant depending on stats of completed missions (or not, thus allowing u to continue on the campaign even after failing a mission - or to continue the same mission even after one or more hostages had been killed.), i think all the experience would be extremely more realistic, and the campaign would be much more dynamic. The order of the missions would change depending on your completion, and later missions would be fiercer and more difficult. So if a particular mission went too much to the end of the campaign, it could get so hard that it would be almost impossible to beat. well, i'm thinking freely, don't know if u get me properly. But that could be an evolution on the original idea, what do u think?
